"7 Reasons Why You Must Start An Online Business In 2017"

There have never been better times for a Nigerian to start an online business like now, especially when the online business is the type that will pay in foreign currency. Online business like affiliate marketing is one of the most profitable online businesses in the world that is capable of earning millions of Naira within the shortest period of time. Yet, Nigerians are not trooping into it.

From my personal research, the major reason why most Nigerians are not trooping into affiliate marketing is because Nigerians are still in a tender stage of fully understanding online business. At this tender stage, people who want to make money online focus on programs that are built on shaky foundations. Such programs include hyip, ponzy schemes, online surveys etc. although this programs provide an elusive earnings potential that can lure newbies into joining them but my task to this newbies is that they should go and check what the big internet guns that are reputable for making millions online what exactly are they doing. I mean the likes of John chow, ewen chia, anik, paschal okafor, Nnamani etc. they are all reputable affiliate marketers and not survey, hyip, ponzy schemes users etc.

For a newbie that do not have an idea of what affiliate marketing is all about, see simple example below.

X owns a product, you sell the product to y and x pays you a commission based on the number of sales you help him made.

Below are the reasons Why You Should Start A Profitable Online Business In 2017

1. More freedom

starting an online business gives you more freedom. It will give you more free time to spend with your Family and Friends. This is what most busy people crave for. If you are one of them, then consider very seriously about starting your own online business. Keep in mind that it will be beneficial to automate your business to the best you can so even if you are not spending time online, it will keep making you money.

2. Work your own hours

When you start your own online business, you create your own working hours. Some people like to work late at night (including myself) and others prefer to work early in the morning. You have the freedom to choose the hours that in your opinion make you feel more comfortable and the same time more productive. Remember you are the boss .

3. No overhead expenses

With an online business you do not have to worry about any operational expenses like leasing a building, paying utilities, paying employees, etc. To run an online business you only need a computer, a good connection to the internet, a willing to learn mindset and tangible sources to learn from. Things are changing fast now that so many online businesses can be carried out using our mobile phones.

4. Easy to start

You don't have to be a genius to start your own online business and you don't need any well guarded secrets to make easy money online. It's all about know-how. You can get a good eBook or a good program at next to no cost that can teach you about online business and how to apply the different strategies to promote your website and have a successful online business. You can start making money on the internet as soon as you are willing to put some effort on your part.
5. The whole world is your market

You will be able to make real money online because you can do business anywhere in the world and it doesn't matter where you live. You can live in Ajegunle and do legitimate business with people in U.k or with people in Canada. It makes no difference. With an online business the opportunities are endless because the internet is a global Village.

6. Affordable

Unlike a regular offline business like a Provision store, a restaurant, Transportation business, health or any type of these businesses, starting an online business requires very little start up capital. As a matter of fact, you can start with less than N5000 or nothing. This amount is to cover the basic needs like the domain name, web hosting, autoresponder, etc this is when necessary. Some of the most successful online marketers today started their online business on a shoestring.

7. A 24 hours business

Your business will be running 24 hours a day 7 days a week with nobody complaining about it. You see, after you automate your online business the best you can and that should be one of your main goals, then you don't need to spend more than a few hours on your computer but the internet will be working for you and making you profits 24 / 7. Nothing beats making money on the internet 24 hours a day working just a few hours a week.

Conclussion: Procrastinating if you should start your Online business? Remember the words of Napoleon hills In His Think And Grow Rich, he said "the best time to start is now either you are ready or not because if you are waiting for the right time you will end up never starting.

Oyo State Awards Heritage Bank For Commitment To Women Empowerment (Photos)

Government has recognised and awarded Heritage Bank Plc for its commitment to women empowerment.

The bank was bestowed with the special appreciation award at a summit organised under the auspices of the Oyo State Officials’ Wives Association (OYSOWA), under the leadership of the governor’s wife, which is the 5th edition.

The three-day summit entitled: “The Ultimate Woman at a Time Like This,” was held at the Emeritus Theophilus Ogunlesi Multipurpose Hall, Opposite UCH Gate, Ibadan.

MD/CEO of Heritage Bank, Dr. Ifie Sekibo in appreciation of the award, stated that the bank’s supports toward women entrepreneurs reinforce its belief in small businesses and their importance to economic growth of the country.

He said: “Heritage Bank recognizes the importance of women in the society, especially in the economy, and this informs its commitment to women empowerment. Our mission is to help women succeed in business and in life.

“We believe that with the right motivation and resources, more women in Africa and in Nigeria can achieve the enviable success that many women across the world have achieved. At Heritage Bank, we have committed ourselves to providing these capacity and resources to empower and motivate women across the country.”

Women empowerment, according to him, was informed by the need to advance the Nigerian woman’s confidence and also teach her to find a balance between living the life she wants and securing her financial future.

The hostess and leader of OYSOWA, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, described the summit as a landmark for two reasons: “The first is that this is the fifth edition of the summit and it is so amazing that this small idea that was conceived a few years ago has become a reference point.

“The second is that just this year, the Violence Against Women Law 2016, was passed by the Oyo State House of Assembly to the glory of God. I recall that during the first summit in 2012, I mentioned that steps were being taken to pass this bill into law and there was even a session on passing a bill on violence against women during that summit. This summit gives us an opportunity to celebrate this achievement for Oyo State that now, we have a law that protects us (women) specifically.”

She noted that over the last five years, several programmes have been organised with a view to producing ultimate women in the society. She also advocated upward review for the roles of women in nation building.

Nkechinyere Okorocha, wife of Imo State Governor, who advocated greater recognition for women, noted that the change that Nigerians desired and believed has finally come to the country.

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, emphasised the need for Nigerians to pray for their leaders and why women should be supportive to their husbands and play their own quota in the growth and development of the country.

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, and his counterparts from Lagos and Osun, Akinwumi Ambode, Rauf Aregbesola, called for increased support for women to ensure that they overcome challenges limiting their potentials. The three governors noted that in this period of economic recession, the leaders at every level should ensure that the water does not become too hot for women, and that the future of every society is determined by the quality of women in that society.

They also called for empowerment programmes capable of preparing women economically for any emergency situation in the country and on the home front.

Onyeka Nwelue Blasts Buhari. See the reasons

It seems Onyeka Nwelue is unhappy with Buhari, see what he posted on his Facebook wall,

President Buhari is a part of the elite group, the Establishment. They impoverish us and use money made off Nigerians to send their children abroad. They tell us they work harder than us and if we can afford to send our children abroad to study, that we are at liberty to do so.

Then, they return and throw what they call graduation parties and shove their happiness into our face. We are sad. Of course.

I have already agreed that Mr Buhari is an acute failure. He came in, threatening to better the lives of Nigerians, but after one year, Mr President has failed in every way. He remains the most clueless politician I know at the moment. This is no personal attack on his person, but for allowing his children celebrate their graduation in foreign universities publicly, at a time when there is no Nigerian university that one can pride over, I must tell you how much I feel disgusted by this negligence and unintelligible mask displayed by a man the entire nation looks up to. Pundits would argue that there is nothing wrong in Buhari’s children being sent overseas. They argue that other world leaders do same. It is a fair argument, the trouble is that in the case of Mr Buhari, the country he governs is crippled. For Buhari’s children  to be sent ‘away’ to get ‘better’ education shows how much of a corrupt person he is.

Again, seeing Abike Dabiri at the graduation party heightens the intensity of my worry over the future of Nigeria. I am deeply troubled by what has happened to the educational system of Nigeria. Like I have always said, university education in Nigeria is an absolute scam. It brews, like rotten tea, the most incompetent young people — young people who can’t reason for themselves. Many of them are scared of exploring because their lecturers had told them that their paper would fetch them anything they want in life. That’s an A4 paper. It has never helped anyone who can’t help themselves, but they chose to ignore this part.

I know that Mr Buhari is not apologetic at all. He is a hardened man. He is very principled and doesn’t tend to bend for anyone. He is rigid. Buhari’s Children will love him like that because he is their father, but they are not aware of the curses their father will bring on them. It is a beautiful thing to graduate from a university after whiling away your time, reading theories for 3 to 6 years. It is a good feeling. I understand that. But what Mr Buhari doesn’t realise is that many people can’t afford to send their children overseas. And what is Mr Yusuf Buhari going to contribute to Nigeria? I’m watching. Of course, I am certain he will be of no use to us.

I hate the fact that Buhari doesn’t know he is a President. He still thinks he is a farmer and that we are his cattle.

Senate Gives Conditions For Magu's Reconsideration

The Senate has said it may reconsider its refusal to confirm the appointment of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, if President Muhammadu Buhari provides the necessary explanation for it to do so.

It said the explanations to be made by President Muhammadu Buhari, who had nominated Magu, would determine whether the nominee would be considered or not.

The lawmakers had on Thursday rejected Magu’s nomination by the President as the substantive chairman of the anti-graft agency based on a “security report” on him.

A security report by the Department of State Services, in which Magu was accused of various corruption-related offences, had caused the Senate to reject his nomination.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, on Friday told one of our correspondents that the lawmakers had taken their decision on the matter and it was left for Buhari to take the next step.

He said, “This is not an issue that is ambiguous and I will not take issue with anybody. What we have said is very straightforward and unambiguous. It is not our responsibility or in our power to tell Mr. President what to do.

“It is his prerogative and for every action taken, there must be a basis. Let him take any action but, of course, he will base his action on explanations. If that happens, we will take his explanations based on their face value and see. Until then, our decision is very simple. It is unambiguous; that is what we said from the beginning and that is what we stand by.”

Meanwhile, the Senate on Friday said the rejection of Magu would be communicated to the Presidency by next week.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, in a separate interview with one of our correspondents, said the communication would undergo legislative process before getting to the President.

He said, “Allow us to do our job. This thing (rejection) just happened yesterday (Thursday). There is a procedure for the communication. We took the decision yesterday. Is the letter not going to be written? Is that the only issue that they (Presidency) have to deal with?

“This thing happened yesterday and who should do the communication? Is it not the clerk? Between yesterday and today, are there not so many things to be done? Is that the only thing we have ahead of us?

“We have taken our decision and the procedure for communicating it is there. Allow it to happen. Wait till next week and see whether it will be communicated (to the Presidency) or not.”

Buhari waiting for Senate’s communication

The Presidency on Friday said Buhari would wait for the Senate to formally communicate its position on Magu’s case before taking a decision on the matter.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in an interview with one of our correspondents.

Adesina said until the President receives the formal notification, no decision would be taken on the matter.

The presidential spokesman said, “You will recall that what the Senate said was that it will communicate the lawmakers’ position on Magu’s nomination to the President.

“President Buhari is still waiting for that communication. When he receives it, he will decide on the next line of action.”

Resolutions: Upper chamber inaugurates committee on compliance

In a related development, barely 48 hours after calling on the President to immediately sack the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, over his alleged involvement in a contract scam, the Senate has set in motion a machinery to ensure strict compliance by the Presidency to all resolutions reached by the National Assembly.

The decision to ensure compliance on the path of the executive arm of government led to the constitution of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance, which was inaugurated on Thursday evening.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while delivering his inaugural speech, said the inauguration of the committee was to ensure that “the resolutions of the upper chamber of the National Assembly are not abused” by the executive arm of government.

According to Saraki, one of the responsibilities of the committee is to “ensure that some of the laws passed by the National Assembly are strictly adhered to” by the relevant ministries, departments and agencies of government.

The Chairman, Senator Babajide Omoworare, in his remarks, said the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance was constituted in accordance with the provisions of Section 62(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, and in compliance with Chapter XIII of the Senate Standing Order.

"Buhari Should Forget South-West In 2019" – Fasehun

AMIDST allegation of marginalization, President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to take urgent steps to save his political career in the South-west geo-political zone.

‎Dr. Frederick Fasehun‎, the founder of  Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, described alleged marginalization of the Yoruba in Buhari’s government as real.

He called on the president to do the needful, warning that the people from the geo-political zone may use their votes to punish the president and APC in  2019 general elections, unless there is a redress.‎

When asked in what ways do he think Yoruba ethnic group has been marginalized by the Federal Government, the medical practitioner in an interview with the Saturday edition of Sun Newspaper said “‎You don’t need to look far before you can see the difference. Look at all the key appointments the president has been making since coming to power, the north is favoured more than the south. It is only inconsequential positions that are being handed Yoruba and other ethnic nationalities. Key appointments and influential positions are given to the north, and it is very unfortunate that some people would always found justification for the president’s action, but Nigerians can’t be fooled.”‎

When reminded that the yoruba race has the number two man in the country, the 81 year old elderstatesman from Ondo dismissed the saying describing the country’s vice president, Osinbajo as a spare tyre.

The statesman also describe Afenifere who has also been championing the marginalization cause as been dead, suggesting that the group needs to be rebranded.‎‎

‎When asked to elaborate  the useful lessons he claims the Yoruba have learnt in their marginalization by the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari‎, the notable yoruba leader said “What I meant is that our people must have learnt a bitter lesson from the way they are being treated by the present leadership under President Muhammadu Buhari.

“You know as the saying goes, words of elders are words of wisdom. Not only that God used some elders including myself in the run-up to the 2015 general elections, that we should not only raise alarm, but also warn Yoruba about going into any romance or alliance with General Buhari.

“When we were raising that alarm, it is not that we have personal hatred or harboured any grudge against Buhari, but our opposition against Buhari was hinged on the fact that this man was in power before and we all knew how he marginalized other sections of the country, promoting only the northern interests.

“People complained that time against his style, but Buhari refused to budge, under Buhari’s military leadership then, Nigeria was almost turned into Animal Farm where some animals were equal than others.

“As the saying goes, a leopard can’t change its spots, and that was why we warned Nigerians that time, especially the Yoruba, that helping Buhari to get political power would amount to nothing but political suicide. Voting for Buhari or helping Buhari to get political power is like riding on the back of a tiger, and if you are not careful, you end up in the belly of that tiger. This is exactly what is happening today, Buhari has not changed a bit. He has only changed his military garb for civilian attires, but the man still remains the same, stubborn and a biased leader.

“Forget whatever his supporters and media handlers are saying, Buhari is pro-North 100 per cent, and he doesn’t care about the feelings of other sections of the country, especially the South. Buhari is not a national leader, it would be wrong for anybody or any genuine patriot to describe Buhari as a national leader.

“However, it is not only the Yoruba that Buhari has marginalised, he has marginalized the entire South. Buhari is Nigeria’s president, but from his actions, he doesn’t behave or act like a leader who sees the entire nation as his constituency
While admitting organising a Pan-Yoruba Conference to promote peace and unity of his ethnic group, he distanced that it is at the instance of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC who some people, especially some Yoruba elders felt is being marginalised within the APC fold‎.

When asked what will be Yoruba’s reaction in the next general election, considering Buhari’s perceived betrayal of the South-west‎, he said “the answer is very simple. Buhari should forget South-west in 2019. People’s eyes are open now and not only in Yorubaland, even in the North people are tired of Buhari’s administration.

“Apart from betrayal or no betrayal, what has Buhari done to deserve coming back? Almost two years into his administration, Nigerians have become more pauperized. There is pain and hunger in the land. Nigerians are really angry with this APC government.‎

“Initially, when they were coming into office, were Nigerians not cheering Buhari and APC, but what is the situation today? Those Nigerians who were cheering Buhari and APC are now jeering at them. People are fed up. Even in the North, people are clamouring for change. When people shout APC in those days, others would respond Change, but today when you shout APC instead of people replying you with “Change”, they are replying “APC Shame.‎

“Buhari and other APC leaders should read the handwriting on the wall, and start doing the needful, because 2019 is almost here with us, and millions of Nigerians are eager to punish Buhari and APC with their votes.”‎

See Who May Replace Magu At EFCC ( Pics included)

AS the plot thickens to stop the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, from becoming the substantive chair of the Commission, three names have popped up as his possible replacements. They are a former boss of the anti-graft agency, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hamid Ali (rtd) and a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Amodu Ali, who is famous for investigating the $180million Halliburton bribery scandal.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the decision to prop up their names was part of the grand plot by the powerful forces opposed to Magu to stop his re-nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari. More names might also be propped up in the next few days. But the Transparency International- Nigeria and some civil society groups yesterday protested non-confirmation of Magu by the Senate.

The TI and others described the security report upon which the Senate based its decision as “curious.” A top source said: “These forces do not want Magu re-nominated by the President when the Senate returns from Christmas break. “This is why they have recommended some people (at least three for now) who have impeccable integrity like Magu as the next substantive chairman of EFCC.

“These are the Comptroller- General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hamid Ali (rtd), a former Chairman of EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Amodu Ali who investigated the $180million Halliburton bribery scandal. “But President Buhari is just listening to arguments for and against Magu. The ball is in the court of the President.” There were however fears last night that these forces might go to court if Buhari re-nominates Magu.

They are trying to hang on to the report of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) to seek some ambiguous reliefs in court.” It was also learnt that pro- Magu sympathisers are also pressing buttons to have the ears of the President to stick to the Acting EFCC chairman. Another source added: “Representations have been made in the last 24 hours to those close to the President to insist on Magu. “Those sympathetic to Magu actually approached an influential governor to intercede and let the President get a second opinion on the DSS report.

“This situation is dicey as I talk to you because both sides are embroiled in intense politics of survival. “Those against Magu were busy yesterday celebrating that they have boxed the Acting EFCC chairman to a corner.” Apart from Transparency International, other civil society groups who protested against non-confirmation of Magu by the Senate yesterday include Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Zero-corruption Coalition (ZCC) They made their position known in a statement by the Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsanjani).

The statement said: “The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Transparency International-Nigeria (TI) and Zero-corruption Coalition (ZCC) express concern at the circumstances surrounding the nonconfirmation by the Nigerian Senate of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), upon his appointment by the President.

“We find it worrisome that the confirmation of the head of such a strategic anti-corruption agency is taking such a long time, having been first appointed in November 2015, and worse still at a time when the nation is reinvigorating the fight against corruption. “CISLAC, TI- Nigeria and ZCC wonder if there is more to the unfolding events than meets the eye. “We are further alarmed at the circumstances preceding the last session in which the Upper Chamber failed to confirm the appointee.

“The fact that the session was preceded by a rowdy sitting and the Senators resorted to a closeddoor session further highlights the lack of transparency in the confirmation process. “We find the Senate’s reliance on a security report from the Department of State Services (DSS) as a reason for the rejection of the President’s appointee very curious.

“While we acknowledge that the Senators have the power of confirmation as well as the right of recourse to relevant institutions for vetting, this must be applied strictly for public good and in very transparent and accountable manner. “CISLAC, TI and ZCC therefore call on the Senate to make public the security report it depended upon to reject the confirmation. “Merely reading it out in a closed session and applying it to arrive at such far reaching decisions fall short of the expectations of the electorate that they represent in the exercise of their powers.

“We call on the DSS to publicly confirm that they are the source of the report in question and authenticate the content for the Nigerian Public to know. “Considering that the DSS is also an agency in the executive arm, it should indicate if the report was also shared with the President who appoints the EFCC chairman. This is to ensure that it is discharging its functions as expected by law and procedure.

“We call on the Presidency to publicly state its position on the unfolding issues so that Nigerians can have a clear picture and draw their own conclusions as public support is crucial to a successful fight against corruption. “The position of the EFCC chair is a very sensitive one and its occupant must be held to the highest levels of integrity and credibility.

“A situation where individuals and groups hide under clandestine and unverified documents and reports to take decisions that could undermine the integrity of individuals and institutions at the forefront of the anti-corruption efforts will be a disservice to the nation and must not be allowed to stand.

“We notify the Senate that their inability to come clean on these would only fuel the perception that their failure to confirm the appointment of the EFCC chairman who has acted for one year is linked to their personal and selfish desire to protect themselves and scuttle the fight against corruption of which several of their members have been beneficiaries. “We urge all well-meaning Nigerians and the media to kick against all manners of unjust decision or resolution by the Nigerian Senate to sabotage the on-going anti-corruption fight in the country

Supreme Court Refuses To Reinstate Nyako As Adamawa Governor

THE move by former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, to return to office was rejected by the Supreme Court on Friday.

Mr. Nyako asked to be reinstated after the Court of Appeal declared his impeachment by the Adamawa House of Assembly as illegal.

The Supreme Court held that the former Adamawa Governor had removed the plea for reinstatement from his claims at the Court of Appeal and thus could not ask for same at the Supreme Court.

Mr. Nyako was removed on July 15, 2014, after 17 of 25 members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly adopted a report of a panel set up to investigate him for alleged corruption.

The report found the governor guilty of all the 16 allegations of gross misconduct.

But in its ruling in February, the Court of Appeal ruled that the impeachment of Mr. Murtala Nyako as governor of Adamawa state was not done in accordance with the provision of the law.
