5 Reasons You Should Password Your Device

Your data is worth a lot to thieves and fraudsters; therefore you should be careful with the sources these thieves and fraudsters can use to access these data. It is time to get rid of the notion that using a password for your devices means you have something to hide. This will help prevent sensitive data like banking and account details, social security details, corporate email information etc. from being unnecessarily compromised.
Jumia Travel shares 5 important reasons you should password your devices.

1. To Avoid Pocket Dialing
Pocket dialing, especially for smartphones and even basic phones, can be humorous or annoying, but most annoyingly because your airtime is being wasted without your knowledge. Here, a preloaded phone number can be dialed when a person has a phone in the rear pocket and sits on it, or if the phone gets ‘jostled’ in a purse or briefcase. This occurrence will be reduced, if not eliminated, if your device was locked with a passcode.

2. To Protect Your Private Information
Symantec, a leading security software maker, conducted an experiment to encourage smartphone users to protect their private information. In the experiment, a phone was loaded with fake password, banking information, emails and photos, and a tracking software was installed on it to monitor what people will do with the phone when found. At the end of the experiment, the result showed 72 per cent looked through photos, 57 per cent checked out saved passwords and 43 per cent accessed the phone’s online banking app.

3. To Prevent Unwanted Prying Into Your Business
This goes without saying. Nosy friends, partners or family members who want to know about ‘every and anything’ you are doing, will have a field day with your ‘password – unprotected’ device. To protect your privacy and avoid unbelievably embarrassing and awkward scenarios, it’s best to password your device and encourage these friends, partners or family members to simply ask you questions about whatever they want to know.

4. To Monitor Others’ Use of Your Device
This is important especially if you have children that like to play with your devices. In the process of moving from one game app to another, children can keep your device running without rest till your battery runs down, regardless of the power situation. Also, without a password, a child can easily pick up your device and while looking for their favourite app, mistakenly rearrange, hide or delete sensitive information on your phone.

5. In Case of Theft
Theft is a sudden and unexpected occurrence. You don’t exactly see it coming. In the case of the theft of your device, it will be better for you if there is a security lock on your device. This is because it gives you some time to inform your bank and other relevant institutions about the theft, before the thief is able to use personal data gotten from your device(s) against you. For some devices like the iPhone, once your device is stolen and it’s password-protected, it’s easier to remotely lock and wipe it.

Buhari's P.A, Lauretta Onochie Blasts Dele Momodu For Crediting Osinbajo

Personal Assistant to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, has lampooned Dele Momodu for crediting Acting President Yemi Osinbajo with the improvements in foreign exchange and engagement with the public.

Momodu had praised Osinbajo for charting a new path for the country in his weekly column tagged "Pendulum".

Onochie, however, disagreed with him, saying "its sad Dele Momodu is clever by half"

On her twitter handle, Lauretta wrote "With a mindset like this, it's not hard to work out that Dele Momodu is too clever by half. If he does not understand "Team", how can he understand "Team Spirit"?

"The President and the Acting President have a great understanding of what it means to be a team. They respect, consult and collaborate with each other. Sync".

Dele Momodu is used to the "Leaders behaving badly" ways of leadership where deputies do not dare breathe without the permission of the Principal.

I have no doubt that Dele Momodu runs his Corruption-friendly business empire that way. He decides alone and imposes on his staff.

The difference between Buhari/Osinbajo and Jonathan/What's his name, administrations is not only the anti and pro-corruption. One is a team, the other wasn't.

While Nigerians are applauding the cohesive team spirit that exits between our President and our VP, Dele Momodu is using it to earn his keep from his corrupt friends.

It's common knowledge that under this administration, all businesses whose foundation was built on corruption, will collapse. Did I hear a loud OVATION?

As an image maker and a friend of the corrupt especially of those who raped our nation, has Dele Momodu stopped to ask where his fees are coming from? Stolen funds?

Dele Momodu must borrow some common sense from some of our youth who are educated and who know the meaning of "Team". Here's one from Japheth J Omojuwa.

It's not lost on Nigerians that Dele Momodu helped to encourage corruption by providing a platform for our corrupt nouveau rich to massage their corrupt ego.

Dele Momodu has taken a stand for corruption. He must now understand that the respect that exists between our two leaders, is stronger than his love for the corrupt.

Nigerians are learning again, that a President can delegate to the Vice so the benefit will go to Nigerians, not just to them.

Dele Momodu can no longer hide his disdain for the war on corruption. But joining accidental Social Media practitioners in this way is to say the least, sickening!

One thing is certain. Nigerians are learning from a credible team that great respect, friendship, collaboration and consultations are possible between workmates".

Say "No' To Dele Momodu's divisive stance. It's selfish, self-centred and egocentric. He alone, stands to gain. END. Thanks for retweeting"

The Too Many Lies And Fake Lives Being Lived On Social Media: My Experience"

Yes, so many people will agree that the greatest liars are Nigeria politicians. But guess what? I have come to discover that the greatest lairs are found on social media. 90% of the reality we believe we see on social media are all lies. Even politicians are using the social media to lie to us. And many of us believe the lies.

I am writing this to air my views because am a young man of this generation. This is a generation of internet, and it involves social media. So any one born in this generation must surely encounter it.

People are now using social media to confuse and convince people about a good life they are living, whereas it’s just fake. To those who believe everything they see on social media are true! Now read this. Majority of our friends who flaunt cars, houses and so many accessories and luxuries just to portray a good life. Most of them are just fake. As a young man, looking at all those things puts pressure on us, thinking that our mates we started life together are ahead of us. It brings out negative competition in us. By the way, “who are we competing with?”

Some of the good things people portray on social media are not what it seem they are in reality. People won’t tell you what they are sufferings on social media. They will only give us the fake good life, making us wonder if we are created by the same God, who gives good things to them and allow us to surfer. But if you are smart enough, you don’t follow them. You don’t put pressure on yourself because you are not living your dreams.

Everything in life takes a process. I didn’t say you shouldn’t rejoice with friends when they get new cars or any positive testimony on social media. But that shouldn’t put pressure on you, or make you feel you are not doing well in life. Because some of them are just make-believe to look as if they are progressing.
Few months ago a friend of mine was currently uploading, updating and changing profile photos on Facebook. She floods her timeline with pictures and write-ups of her in the sophisticated office. Then comments was pouring in on her page. She would upload a photo of her in suit with a macbook on the table, then with caption, “work today was great. I and my team completed the task” Then come and see comments like,
“boss chick you too much.”
“Abeg connect me”.

At a time I became sad in my spirit. This na the girl wey we finish for the same department ooo. She go come upload picture wey she dey inside one big car. Comments go come they flow. People go dey congratulate her, “congrats on your new car.” Or na her picture wey she dey infront of one big mansion. Na there I come begin pity myself. I was so angry in my spirit because I was just an ordinary school teacher receiving N10,000 while this lady has a new car, house and many things. I no dey jealous oo but I was pained that Baba God was yet to pick my call.

Na so I humble myself send her message. Before she even reply me sef. It took her one week, as if she no know me again. We chatted for about a week and I begged her to help me, link me with a job. Na so she say make I send my CV. Na so I send give her. Since that day she no dey dey respond to my messages or calls. But she go dey post pictures of her on different locations for office. Na so I gather myself come move on with my life.
Day after day I go on social media and see guys we graduated together in university giving positive testimonies. Some new cars, houses, accessories and different stuff. So dem take picture for abroad, some marriages. And I began wondering why God has just abandoned me like that. day and night i keep on praying to get a green light. Motivation to teach my students was low. I began having negative thoughts.
“I wished I had done Yahoo yahoo”
“I wished I have listened to my friend who wanted to help me go to Malaysia.”

All that put pressure on me that I was applying for so many jobs without thinking if they were genuine or not. I just wanted to make it and start posting my own photos online about me being in my big, fine office. I just want to have that extravagant wedding and post photos on social media that I have arrived. I want to buy the latest cars and give my followers the photos to see. I just want people to see my own positive progress.

The pressures were too much that I became a victim of scam job appointment, that I travelled all the way to Abuja from Lagos overnight for a supposed job interview. I slept in the pack for two days with the last card I had. Only for me to discover it was GNLD. Gush I wanted to cause myself. i didn’t take my bath the 2 days I spent there. I had to beg for money before good Samaritans gave me which I used for transport back to Lagos.

I ventured into Ponzi schemes. My first time into it was when they froze the accounts. I lost money. I was just desperate to be like my mates on social media. I didn’t want to appreciate myself the way I am. The fact that I have not made it, that those not mean am late.
Early January this year 2017, I was called by a friend that a company needs the services of a computer Engineer to fix some of their computer systems. Na so I go oo. My paddy carry me go there. The company was so huge that I was imagining working there. I saw my female friend who has been posting pictures of her on Facebook. I saw her in the company. I tried being friendly and greeted her. You need to see the way she snubbed me. She did as if she doesn’t know me. Chaiii, e just be like make ground open swallow me that moment. Because she did it in the presence of some workers. E just be like say I wan toast her. Na wetin people go dey think. Shame come dey catch me. Na so one of the staff carry me go were their computer wey dey malfunction.
After I finished working on the computers, one of the staff asked me to please help them install some few apps and Iroko Tv in one of their boss’s office. He asked me to get some things from the offline agent at the Iroko boot close to their building. And I actually saw the Iroko boot not too far from the building. One of the staff followed me to the boot. When I got there I met this my female friend there. She was shocked. Na so she carry face put for ground. Me sef come dey wonder. The staff that took there was explaining to her and talking about Iroko subscriptions. It was all obvious she is the offline agent there. Me wey dey think say na big office she dey work. I no know say na Iroko offline agent for boot she be. She go come dey upload photos wey she dey inside big office. So na that big company she dey go snap.
When we left there, I was asking the staff if the Iroko boot which my female friend was working in was affiliated to their company. Na so the guy sy “no ooo.” Say the company just dey patronize the Iroko and the girl dey sometimes come inside the company come help set some few things up about Iroko.

So you see, social media and lies. Even some of our celebrities dey lie. Uploading fake pictures and testimonies. Some of the things we see on social media are not what they are in reality. The most beautiful ladies are on social media. When you see them in real life they are not much cute but after filters and so many applications being worked on their photos, they come out so beautiful that the most beautiful angel in heaven will be wondering

Buhari Requests N157.75bn To Hire Additional 350,000 Graduates - Presidency

ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the appropriation of N157.75 billion in the 2017 budget estimates for the N-Power scheme to hire additional 350,000 unemployed graduates under the N-Power Volunteer Corps.

Mr. Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity to Acting President Yemi Osinabjo made the disclosure on Sunday while giving update on the Social Investment Programmes, SIPs, of the Buhari’s presidency in a statement.

He said that out of the N-Power 2017 N157 billion budget ” 350,000 unemployed graduates more would be hired and trained, alongside 50,000 non-graduates youths to be engaged as artisans and in other creative ventures”.

He also stated that “Under the N157.75 also, a sum of N4.5B has been earmarked for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM program to support young Nigerians in building skills in those disciplines.”

Akande told Nigerians to expect more this year especially in the area of implementation, saying that all of the SIPs are now undergoing different stages of implementation.

“While we were able to engage 200,000 unemployed graduates last year, we will do 350,000 more this year,” he assured, adding that some of the teething problems are giving way to lessons that would smoothen implementation under the 2017 budget.

The vice presidential spokesman further disclosed that “about N75 billion has been allocated for the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme, which will provide one hot meal a day to 5 million primary school pupils”.

He explained that “this would certainly be an improvement on how far the feeding programme has been implemented so far under the 2016 budget which has so far attained the feeding of
about one million pupils.”

Akande also stated “that under the 2017 budget a sum of N112.2B has been allocated for the
Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEE, aimed at providing interest-free loans to up to 1.2million market men and women, traders, artisans, youths and farmers.

” Under the GEEP, he explained that beneficiaries would receive between N10,000 and N100,000 loans with a one-time 5% administrative fee.

According to him, over 20,000 Nigerians in over 14.states and have been benefiting from GEEP already under the 2016 budget of SIP.

He added that “the Conditional Cash Transfer which has kicked off in 9 states would be further expanded under the 2016 budget and will reach more states and much more Nigerians. The plan in 2016 budget targets one million poorest and vulnerable Nigerians. And in the 2017 budget an additional N54.98B has been allocated for the.continuation of the N5000 monthly social safety net payments to the poorest Nigerians.”

Akande further clarified that while President Buhari has approved another N500 billion in 2007 for all the social intervention programmes, N100 billion out of it, has been allocated for the Family Homes Fund, saying that it has already been announced by the Ministry of Finance.

“2017 implementation of the SIP is going to be far more impactful than what we were able to do under the 2016 budget, so Nigerians should expect more this year, the resolve of the Buhari presidency is firm that more lives must be touched positively under this programmes which Nigerians have come to appreciate,” Akande said.

Tonto Dikeh, The Scandal And The Wild Goose Chase - Abuja Press

Recently, the popular Nollywood actress (in proxy) Miss Tonto Dikeh has been chasing winds in her plights to ridicule her husband whom she claims to have engaged marital infidelity. Yes, the details of her claim on the husband’s infidelity and her
skepticisms to continue with the marital engagements might seem to be news to some, but to us it’s a baseless accusation that do not really weigh waters and indeed a wild goose chase considering the situation and benefits that clouds the marriage for her.

It is clear that she is blessed with a marriage with one of Africa’s biggest ICT mogul, Olakunle Churchill who hosted one of the world’s celebrated ICT Summit in Switzerland based on researched facts. Tonto Dikeh has really experienced a dramatic turn-around; it’s been more like a realized fantasy and a miracle for her. To buttress this fact, Tonto Dikeh who was known for her creative and manipulative strength with scripts and acting despaired on her career as an actress to engage in humanitarian services because she was carried away by the extensive strength of her husbands’ charity organization.

It was recorded that she eventually founded Tonto Dikeh Foundation and used the strengths of her husband’s organization to pull the operation of hers, something that her fans and Instagram followers would not have achieved. But in the long run, she started fronting donations and charity that only God knows where she sourced the money from, all thanks to Dr. Churchill Olakunle, her supposed ex-husband.

Nonetheless, she has been felt and trended on several online and print mediums for her flamboyant spending, another thanks to her husband. But now we are sure that the road to her bankruptcy might be the next path she would take, however, a source few minutes ago confirmed to us that the popular Nollywood actress has been using their son as a bait to secure money to keep her foundation functionally relevant and a prerogative for their child’s up-keep; perhaps, these are the few ways she intends to maintain the executive lifestyle which she carelessly threw away to attract public sympathy.
Though, Churchill who she labelled with marital infidelity, has been spotted at humanitarian events with his alleged infidelity partner which explains that Tonto’s claims might have had the features of perhaps a misconstrued reaction.

Hurray!! My matriculation is tomorrow 25th of February 2017.

This is to inform my friends here that my matriculation is tomorrow 25th of February 2017. Looking forward to seeing you all at Ebonyi state University ishieke campus. Be there.

Osinbajo is ‘up to task’ of governing Nigeria – CAN

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Samson Ayokunle on Thursday declared that the Acting President, Yemi

Osinbanjo is “up to the task” of governing Nigeria in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Ayokunle insisted that there was no vacuum in government contrary to insinuations in certain quarters.

The statement sent to DAILY POST on Thursday said, “We don’t see the need for any hue and cry being made by some people that his unprecedented absence could create a vacuum in the Presidency since President Buhari has done what is needful by transferring power to the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who is up to the task.

“The Church should also continue praying for him for divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding as he discharges his constitutional responsibilities.”

Ayokunle also urged the Christians to continue praying for the President until he returned back to the country hale and hearty from the United Kingdom, UK.

The President who has been on medical Vacation in the UK had extended his 10-days vacation, citing health reasons.

Earlier in the week, Buhari through his media aide, Femi Adesina revealed that a series of medical check-ups he carried out in the cause of his medical vacation had necessitated his prolonged stay in London.

In a swift reaction to the new development, Ayokunle, reminded Christians that it was their responsibility to “pray for the country and her leaders in season and out of season.”

The statement added, “I call on all well meaning Nigerians, especially Christians not to cease praying for President Muhammadu Buhari as he takes further rest as advised by his doctors until he returns back to the country hale and hearty to continue his good works.

“It is needless reminding you that as Christians, our responsibilities include but not limited to making supplications, prayers, and intercessions, and giving thanks for our leaders and for all that are in the position of authority, ‘that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour…’” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).”

Ayokunle also urged security agencies to rise up to the security challenges in the Southern Kaduna by “flushing out the hoodlums who are still killing innocent people despite the presence of policemen and soldiers in the area.”

He said, “We call on the security agencies in the country to stop the killings in Kafanchan despite their presence in the area, we heard of recent attacks in Atakar and Kaninkon villages of Kaura and Jema’a local government areas in the state.

“All hands should be on deck to flush out those criminals from their hideouts in order to restore a permanent peace to the Southern Kaduna communities once and for all.”

Xenophobia: Vacate From Nigeria Before 48 Hours – Nigerian Students To South Africans

Xenophobic Attacks:Nigerians protesting against xenophobic attacks in South Africa at the South African High Commission, in Abuja, Photos: Gbemiga Olamikan.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given 48 hours ultimatum to all South African companies in Nigeria to relocate over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
The students gave the ultimatum at a peaceful demonstration at some South African companies in Abuja on Thursday. During the march the students carried a banner, which read: ‘’NANS against Xenophobic Attacks on Nigerians.’’ While the students marched, the security men stood and watched to ensure law and order.

The President of NANS, Mr Kadiri Aruna, said in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at DSTV office, a South African company, in Wuse 2, Abuja, that Nigerian students had resolved to condemn the attacks. “We are saying that enough is enough as South Africans have openly attacked and bullied Nigerians.’’ Aruna said that the protest would also serve as a warning to other countries trying to underrate Nigerians.

He said that after 48 hours, if nothing was done, messages would be sent to students in all university campuses to bring down MTN masts all over the country. Aruna said that DSTV and Shoprite would also be affected as the union had put adequate strategies in place to make the action effective. “All the South African business empires in Nigeria and their collaborators in Nigeria will be affected.

“I don’t want to say we will be barbaric but we will not be lawful in our actions, we will do it and face the consequences, enough of this rubbish,’’ he said. Aruna stressed that the poor treatment being meted out to Nigerians was particularly insulting given the role Nigeria played in ending the apartheid regime in South Africa.

“Nigeria contributed 80 per cent of the freedom the South Africans are enjoying today because we saved them from the jaws of apartheid. “Who is South Africa to humiliate Nigeria? So they forget things so soon, let them go back to history and records to see how much financial assistance and what the country did to save them,’’ he said. The union president said that the situation was inhuman and for this reason all reasonable Nigerians must react. “In science they say you use malaria to cure malaria, now you use madness to cure their madness, and that is why we are advising them to leave Nigerian soil before 48 hours.’’

He said that the Federal Government should not wait till the dying minute before evacuating Nigerians from South Africa. Aruna said it was time for government not to only condemn the attacks but take a firm stand by summoning South Africa’s high commissioner and if possible cut diplomatic ties with that country. “Government should take extra-diplomatic measures in dealing with the latest deadly assaults because if nothing drastic is done it will become a regular occurrence. “This is the time to place South Africa where it belongs,’’ he said.

He said that the last time the xenophobic attack happened nothing was done, no action was taken and no arrest was made and that was why South Africans repeated the attacks. Aruna said it was so unfortunate that during the attacks the South African Government refused to take up its responsibility of securing Nigerians and their properties.

“The government of South Africa is criminally quiet and they say silence is consent, and their police are folding their hands while they are killing Nigerians, this is conspiracy, enough is enough,’’ he said. He said the peaceful rally would continue and spread across the country. Over 50 police and, DSS operatives surrounded the DSTV premises and along the street making it impossible for newsmen to contact any DSTV officials for comments.

Just In!! Solar Eclipse To Occur In Nigeria On Sunday, 26th Of February

The National Space Research and Development Agency has said that there would be a partial Solar eclipse across the country on Feb. 26.

The Head of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr Felix Ale, in a statement on Thursday said, “A partial solar eclipse will be visible all over the country with different degree of totality to occur on Sunday, February 26.”
According to Ale, the highest degree of obscurity of 33 percent will be observed in the country during the natural occurrence in the southern part of Nigeria, particularly Port Harcourt, Uyo and Calabar.

He said that the lowest degree of obscurity would be about nine percent in the northern part of Nigeria, particularly in Kebbi.

Ale noted that in the South-West, the level of obscurity would be 23 per cent at about 5.42 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
He, however, said it would be recording 28 to 30 per cent between 4.45 p.m. and 6.33 p.m. in the South-East.
“Meanwhile, the level of obscurity in Abuja, the Federal Capital City (FCT) will be 20 per cent between 4.54 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.,” he said.

He stressed that the solar eclipse would be observed across the nation, thereby making each part of the country a great site for viewing the eclipse at different degree of obscurity.

According to him, the solar disc will be covered by the moon as seen from the earth and the eclipse will be visible as much as there is clear sky without rain or cloud.

He, however, said there was no cause for alarm or reason to panic as the solar eclipse was a natural occurrence and should be seen as part of the beauties of nature.

Just In!! BBC Mocks Buhari And Nigeria

The BBC has compared President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence in Nigeria to the filming of reality show, Big Brother Naija in South Africa.

BBC make comparisons between Big Brother Naija and Buhari’s absence
President Buhari’s medical vacation continues to generate reactions
The popular reality show kicked off about the same period the president commenced his medical vacation in the United Kingdom.

‘’Both subjects were soon generating headlines for the same reason – neither of them were in Nigeria,’’ the report stated.

The report noted that while the howls of protests from outraged Big Brother fans soon died down, the clamour over Buhari’s extended medical stay in London is not going away.
And unlike Big Brother, there are no constant updates – in fact, President Buhari, 74, has not given a single interview since arriving in the UK.

Instead, the Nigerian public has to make do with pictures posted on the president’s meeting senior government officials as proof that he still is alive.

Last June, President Buhari spent nearly two weeks in London receiving treatment for an ear infection.

But the bigger issue this time is that officials have repeatedly refused to disclose his illness and are not saying when he will return to Nigeria.
Afenifere chieftain and elder statesman, Ayo Adebanjo recently said the presidency is not sincere about the true state of President Buhari’s health, adding that those around the president were taking Nigerians for fools.

Similarly, Former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife has expressed his displeasure over how the presidency is handling the president’s health situation.

In a country where rumours are rife, the presidential statements have done little to dampen the speculation about the Buhari’s health.

For no fault of theirs, Nigerians are acutely sensitive to leaders travelling abroad for medical reasons after President Umaru Yar’Adua died while in office in 2010.

For months, the public was kept in the dark while he received treatment in Saudi Arabia. The period of uncertainty created deep political instability in the country.
The House of Representatives has however dismissed some rumours that it is contemplating using the ‘doctrine of necessity’ which was used by the National Assembly to solve the Yar’adua saga.

“There is no vacuum at the top, President Buhari takes his constitutional role seriously, and has not personalised power, unlike other African leaders,” says political analyst Jibrin Ibrahim.

On his part, opposition politician, Isuwa Dogo says: “President Buhari is a public figure and there is no need for him to hide behind his health issues.

“I want him to be back in the county. If there are successes, he will get the credit. If there are failures, he will get the blame.”

So, while Big Brother fans will know in April who has been crowned the series winner, for now, no-one seems to know when Nigeria’s president will come back ho

Meanwhile, Prophet TB Joshua has urged Nigerians to rise up in prayer for President Buhari, praying specifically for TB Joshua has urged Nigerians to rise up in prayer for President Buhari, praying specifically for “strength where is weakness”.

“Too Sick To Rule, Too Greedy To Leave, Buhari Is Not Coming Back” – Toyin Dawodu

Buhari may not be dead, but he might as well be – too sick to rule, too greedy to leave.
There is a saying in Yoruba Land: “Orun a re mabo.”

Translation: No one comes back from the dead.

Buhari may not be dead, but he might as well be – too sick to rule, too greedy to leave.

Do I wish Buhari dead? Hell no! I wish him well. But as the president of Nigeria, he needs to either serve in his full capacity as president, or immediately resign. There is no third option here, at least not one that benefits Nigerians.

For weeks, Buhari’s administration has been reporting that he is healthy, that he is simply on an extended trip to London for medical tests. He has been away for weeks, and his administration is unwilling or unable to tell Nigerians if or when their president will return, according to the LA Times.

So, what we know for sure is even if Buhari is not sick – which is improbable, considering his appearance of late – and he is just more comfortable spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on his current medical tour instead of getting these “medical tests” done at the State House Clinic Abuja, the fact remains he so preoccupied with his health that he is unable to lead his country. And Nigeria does not seem to have another leader poised to take his place.

I agree with Okey Ndibe that Buhari should step down.

Unlike most of Buhari’s detractors, I do not have a self-serving agenda. My agenda is to see Nigerians prosper in Nigeria. But Nigerians remain in chains, enslaved by their inability to see beyond their greedy noses.

I speculate Buhari is suffering from either a kidney failure or pancreatic cancer, but even if Buhari comes back home, we all know his policies of the last two years have left the country almost completely stagnate. Try as we might to put our faith in him, Buhari has brought Nigeria no closer to self-sufficiency.

If you remember, I campaigned for Buhari. I wanted him to help halt the abyss to which Nigeria was descending during the time of Jonathan’s presidency, as referenced in my article Nigeria’s Rise to the Bottom.

In another one of my articles, I stated that Nigeria is Not a Country but a conspiracy of the elites. My sincere hope was that Buhari would mark the start of a new paradigm of leadership for Nigeria.

That has not been the case.

I am not naive in thinking any world leader would panic his or her constituents by announcing a major illness then admitting there is no cure for the illness, nor a plan in place to ensure the stability of the country going forward. World leaders don’t do that. Hell, C-level executives don’t even do that.

I think what we all feel is the sense of unease that manifests when you know something’s wrong and no one will tell you what it is. It’s the same unease Americans felt when William Henry Harrison died in office. It’s the same unease experienced by Ethiopians when Prime Minister Meles Zenawi died in office. It’s the same unease the whole world felt when North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il died and we realized we were stuck with his sons.

The saga of Yar’adua comes to mind. Not quite seven years ago, we had another Nigerian President lying comatose in another country. The cabals lied to the nation for several months until they could no longer lie.

This may be history repeating itself.

By the time this post goes live, Buhari may be dead or Buhari may be back in Nigeria. But I question whether he will ever regain enough strength to lead in the proper capacity as president. How can he have a broken body and a distracted mind and retain the strength and focus to lead Nigeria out of social, political, and economic turmoil?

I am hedging my bets. The cabals know the answer. The conspirators know the answer. But they will continue to lie and keep Nigerians guessing so they can milk the system for as long as possible.

Therefore, I say to all Nigerians, let us pray the Lord see fit to restore President Buhari’s health, and that he has the opportunity to enjoy the rest of his years in peace with his family beside him.

And let us pray that Nigerians would wake up, and rise up. Long live Nigeria.

Why Is Nigeria's President Buhari Still In London? - BBC

As Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was beginning his latest visit to London more than a month ago, a new series of Big Brother Nigeria was getting under way.

A former military ruler known for his no-nonsense style would appear to have little in common with a reality TV show where contestants engage in attention-seeking behaviour.

But both subjects were soon generating headlines for the same reason - neither of them were in Nigeria.
It turned out that Big Brother was actually being filmed in South Africa - a decision that led Nigeria's information minister to launch an investigation.
While the howls of protests from outraged Big Brother fans soon died down, the clamour over Nigeria's leader's extended medical stay in London is not going away.

President Buhari's absence comes as Africa's most populous nation is gripped by its worst economic crisis in decades, and faces the threat of famine in north-east Nigeria, which has been devastated by the Boko Haram insurgency.

And unlike Big Brother, there are no constant updates - in fact, President Buhari, 74, has not given a single interview since arriving in the UK.
Instead, the Nigerian public is relying on pictures - posted on Twitter - of their leader meeting senior UK officials as proof that he still is alive.

The latest statement issued by the government said there was "no cause for worry" about the president's health but his medical leave was being extended.
Nigerians have now heard their leader's voice for the first time since he left for the UK after a telephone conversation with the governor of the northern state of Kano was played out loud at a prayer meeting.
His month-long stay so far has angered some Nigerians after he promised to crack down on "medical tourism" by officials.

Last June, President Buhari spent nearly two weeks in London receiving treatment for an ear infection.
But the bigger issue this time is that officials have repeatedly refused to disclose his illness and are not saying when he will return to Nigeria.
'Urgent decisions'

In a country where rumours are rife, the presidential statements have done little to dampen the speculation about the leader's health.

Nigerians are acutely sensitive to leaders travelling abroad for medical reasons after President Umaru Yar'Adua died while in office in 2010.

For months, the public was kept in the dark while he received treatment in Saudi Arabia.
The period of uncertainty created deep political instability in the country.

The current president's supporters say that is emphatically not the case this time.
They point to the fact that President Buhari constitutionally handed over power to his vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo, as he has done on previous trips, rather than governing from afar.

He did take one phone call while in London, however, from the US President Donald Trump - the first between the two leaders.

"There is no vacuum at the top," says political analyst Jibrin Ibrahim.

"President Buhari takes his constitutional role seriously, and has not personalised power, unlike other African leaders.

Lack of authority?

"My chief criticism is that his government has been acting like it has all the time in the world, when in fact urgent decisions needed to be made in regard to the economy."

But, perhaps, one of the most striking things about President Buhari's absence has been the go-getting style of the acting leader.

President Buhari has formally handed over his power to vice-president Yemi Osinbajo
Yemi Osinbajo is preparing to launch an economic recovery plan.

He also led a high-profile delegation to the Niger Delta to voice support for a government agreement with local militants groups that have seriously disrupted the region's oil production.

But critics say that despite all his activity, the vice-president has no real authority.

"He cannot perform because ministers and other political appointments are not obliged to be loyal to him as he didn't appoint them," said Isuwa Dogo

Army Bust Boko Haram Cell In Kogi, 17 Suspects Arrested (Photo)

The Nigeria Army on Wednesday paraded 17 suspects arrested during a military operation launched on Boko Haram cells and hideouts of kidnappers existing within the Kogi Central senatorial district.

The Commander, Army Records Lokoja, Brig. Gen. Henry Ayamasowei, who paraded the suspects at the Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja, said the operation launched by the army in the last three weeks led to the arrest of two members of the Boko haram sect while the 15 other suspects were those that have been coordinating various kidnappings and armed robbery operations along the Okene, Adavi, Obajana and Adogo axis of the state.

The Army displayed large cache of weapons recovered from the suspects including a pump action gun, AK47, locally double barrel guns, pistols, IED materials, live ammunitions, fire extinguishers, face hoods and a T-shirt with Boko Haram inscriptions, amongst others.

Governor Yahaya Bello who witnessed the parading of the suspects, commended the Army for the feat, saying that his administration will not condone the activities of any terrorist group in the state.

We Are Praying For PDP Not To Fall Apart" - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has prayed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) resolved its leadership crisis soon to enable it take up responsibility as a viable opposition.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja on Tuesday, the party said there was need for PDP to be vibrant to provide the critical opposition.

It said, “we pray for them to put their house in order soon because we believe that democracy is better served when the opposition is alive.

“However, we also know the PDP can only begin to take steps towards recovery if they stop peddling conspiracy theories and blaming imaginary enemies.’’

It recalled that Sen. Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party had alleged that the APC instructed the Police to prevent its members from meeting at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

Makarfi, according to it, had also alleged that the APC had somehow influenced the Appeal Court decision which ruled against him as the PDP National Caretaker Committee Chairman.

“Neither of these allegations is true in any respect, the Police does not take instructions from the APC.

“The police have explained why they stopped the Makarfi group from meeting at the ICC.

“If the factional PDP is dissatisfied with the police explanation, they could seek further clarifications from the police or pursue alternative means of redress,’’ the APC said.

It added that so far, the Makarfi faction of the PDP had not faulted the police or provided any proof for its allegations against the APC, a development that was surprising.

It said that this was “especially so considering that Makarfi and his group had in their ranks, individuals who are experienced to know that without evidence, such allegations can easily be dismissed as baseless.

“Such allegation without evidence can, therefore, be ignored by all right thinking members of the public, including the APC.’’

The APC added that Nigerians should be worried by the behaviour of PDP factions which was capable of eroding the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary.

It added that even as the PDP battled for survival, Nigerians should observe restraint in the interest of the country`s democracy, saying that APC had no interest in the internal crisis of PDP. (NAN)

"Why I Cut My Wife’s Corpse Into Pieces" - Father Of 3 (Very Graphic Photos)

Why I cut my wife’s corpse into bits—Suspect

ON FEBRUARY 21, 2017

By Esther Onyegbula

The father of three, Sakiru Bello, who is currently being investigated at the homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, has denied the allegation that he murdered his ex-wife, Sherifat Bello.

According to the 36-year-old suspect, “I called her on February 13 and she came to see me at home. Later, both of us went to the Island. It was on our way back that a commercial bus hit the bike that we boarded and she fell, hitting her head on the ground.

“When we got home, she started complaining of pain in the head and then she died. I didn’t take her to the hospital because I didn’t have money.

“After she died, I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t call her family members since we aren’t in good terms. It was while thinking about what to do that a thought came into my mind that I should cut her corpse into pieces to enable me dispose off her remains easily.

“So I cut her head, her breast, her leg and other parts of her body. I later wrapped them in a sack before taking it to an uncompleted building, where I buried the parts in different holes.”

Father-in-law

According to the father of the deceased, “I reported the case to the Area ‘B’ Police Command, when we didn’t see her, not knowing that he had killed her. When we called him, he said he was somewhere in Ibadan and gave us an address.

“However, when we got to the address, he was not there. Luckily, police arrested him in Lagos where he was hiding. He is denying that he killed her, but he cut her corpse into bits. All we want is proper investigation and justice in this case.”

Lamenting, the elder sister of the deceased, Shakirat, told Vanguard: “My sister is a nurse. She is the one who has been catering for the family, while they were married. She once bought him a bike and later, a Danfo just to ensure that he is gainfully employed. But nothing came out of it.

“About a year ago, she raised alarm that he wanted to use her for rituals, so the two families came together and they separated them.”

It will be recalled that Shakiru Bello was alleged to have dismembered the wife’s body and buried same in a shallow grave, before leaving for Ibadan, his home town.

Naira now worst currency in Africa under Buhari – Ekweremadu

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration of making the Naira the worst currency in Africa.

Ekweremadu said the economy had suffered more crisis under the new government than any government.

Ekweremadu stated this at the Peoples Democratic Party’s national stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ekiti State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, on Monday.

He was quoted by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, as saying, “They told us that one US dollar would be one naira when they take over. Has that happened?

“Today, our currency is the worst currency in the whole of Africa. Is that the type of democracy we looked forward to? I can see a situation where the price of oil is going up and the value of naira is going down. What type of economics is that?”

Ekweremadu, called on members of the PDP faithful to remain strong as the party would “work with Nigerians to restore true democracy and hope to our people.”

He said, “I believe that with determination and sticking together, we will triumph and Nigeria will be better for it.”

He also said the solidarity of all key organs of the PDP for the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, despite the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal on the party’s leadership tussle, showed that “it is not the hood that makes the monk.

“Such flagrant manipulation of critical institutions of democracy is not only dangerous, but bad news for the nation’s democracy.‎”

Guardiola names best coach in the world

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has named Marcelo Bielsa as the best coach in the world.

Bielsa has been confirmed to take over at Ligue 1 side, Lille next season and Guardiola has used the opportunity to hail the Argentine’s influence on his own tactical plans.

“My admiration for Marcelo Bielsa is huge because he makes the players much, much better,” Guardiola said on Monday.

“Still, I didn’t meet one guy, a former player from Marcelo Biesla who speaks no good about him.

“They are grateful about his influence on their careers in football.

“He helped me a lot with his advice. Whenever I speak with him I always feel like he wants to help me.”

Bielsa has only won three league titles in his native Argentina and an Olympic gold meal in 2004, but Guardiola says trophies are not a good criteria to measure his brilliance.

“It is important for me to say this about Marcelo because it doesn’t matter how many titles he had in his career,” the Spaniard added.

“We are judged by that – how much success we have, how many titles we have won.

“But that is much less influential than how he has influenced football and his football players.

“That is why, for me, he is the best coach in the world. I am looking forward to seeing him in Lille next season.

“I am pretty sure his influence on their team, their club and their players will be huge – amazing. I am pretty sure of that.”

Ideye set to join Mikel Obi at Tianjin TEDA

Brown Ideye is set to leave Olympiakos for Chinese Super League side, Tianjin TEDA, before the close of the transfer window.

Sources close to the player have told ESPN FC, that Ideye is likely to be lining up along with his international team-mate, John Obi Mikel, soon.

The transfer window in China closes later this week ahead of the new season next month and TEDA are in the market for a new striker to add to their squad.

Ideye has been at Olympiakos since 2015, after joining the Greek club following a miserable one-year stint in the Premier League with West Brom.

The 28-year-old scored seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies before leaving. He went on to net 13 times in his debut season in the Greek Super League and already has 15 goals this term.

It is understood that personal terms have been agreed with the player and the move is at an advanced stage.

"We Never Killed Any IPOB Member In Port Harcourt" – Army

The Nigerian army has denied killing any protester belonging to the Indigenous People Of Biafra at their recent rally in Port Harcourt, rather accusing the group of making spurious and
unfounded allegation, and molesting innocent citizens and passersby.

The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations sixth division, Colonel ‎Aminu Iliyasu, ‎yesterday ‎stated that on the said date, members of the group were mobilized from Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Cross River states for an alleged rally with dubious intent of molesting innocent citizens, intimidating passers-by and wrecking havoc on commuters thereby disturbing public peace, safety and security.

He explained that the choice of Port Harcourt as the epicentre of the protest has left much to be desired. According to him, it is however worthy to restate that one of the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Army is to come to the aid of the civil authority whenever the need arises.
And in line with this constitutional mandate, troops of 29 Battalion Nigerian Army, were deployed in conjunction with other security agencies to prevent any loss of life or property with strict adherence to the established rules of engagement.

“Despite all provocative attempts occasioned by the stoning of security agents and the smashing of commuters’ windscreens by the violent protesters, troops refused to be cajoled into the criminal gang’s trap to fire a single shot. This is indicative of the troops’ total compliance with their rules of engagement. The violent protest was subsequently subdued with the use of tear gas and arrests were made by a sister security agency with no casualty recorded on either side.”
The army spokesperson said.

He decried as worrisome and disturbing for anyone to falsely accuse troops deployed in support of civil authority who conducted their duty professionally under the beaming lenses of cameras of allegedly killing 11 citizens of the country. A well observed trend of IPOB, according to him, is the malicious posting of old videos and pictures from their archives on social media platforms that has no bearing on their claims, to attract public sympathy and whip sentiments among the citizenry.

Despite the army’s claim of civility in their conduct under the beaming lenses of cameras, it never provided any video to substantiate that. And the photos and videos captured by the beaming lenses of the other side in the argument rather showed the army conducting their duty unprofessionally by forcing everyone to understand that they are the guys with the guns.

"I Am Not Part Of The Aso Rock Cabal" - Governor El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna state has dismissed insinuations that he is one of the power brokers in the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
The governor made the clarification while speaking to select journalists in Lagos recently.

Various media reports have described the diminutive governor as one of the most influential individuals in the scheme of things in As Rock.

But the governor dismissed the reports, saying he he is not one of those influencing things at the Presidential Villa.
He however said he is close to President Buhari due to their working relationship when they were both members of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

His words: ‘’I worked very closely with him in the CPC when everyone had given up on him. I know him, I know how he thinks and he trusts me. He knows that I am driven by public interest. Do I participate in federal decision making? I don’t.

‘’I am too busy addressing Kaduna problems to be part of it. When I am called for an opinion or when I happen to be around, and I have an input or if I see something going seriously wrong; I drive and go and see Mr. President I have heard A, B, C, D. I don’t think it is not right, you should consider doing C, D, E. I do that and I drive back to Kaduna.

‘’My primary assignment is Kaduna. I am not involved in the federal government. People like to say and attribute so much to me, and sometimes it is good for me, it gives me a larger than life image.''

The governor confirmed that there is a cabal in Aso Rock, but made reference to the fact that there is a cabal in every organisation.

‘’Even in your own newspaper houses, there is a cabal. Nobody can run an institution without a coterie of two, three, four trusted people.

‘’There is always a cabal; the issue is whether it is a positive or a disruptive cabal. Am I a member of the cabal? No, I am governor of Kaduna state; I work for Kaduna state 24/7,’’ he added.
